Raavan
This one is going to be short and not too different from the poor reviews already written at length. We watched the Hindi version and it was disappointing and disjointed. The visuals, the story, the soundtrack- none if it when put together made sense. The only thing that stood out was the cinematography, making the whole movie look like a string of interesting experiments with the camera, angles and locations. It was like being taken through a photography exhibition, where each still was breathtaking but with no coherence otherwise. The editing sucked- flash backs and forwards only made the narrative jerky. I would have much preferred a straight forward strong story where the main characters didn't get lost in all the artistic experimentation. One of my worst Mani Ratnam movies so far.
