This week's round up

1) Two related articles on livemint.com: http://www.livemint.com/2010/10/17134806/Ambani8217s-home-the-costli.html?h=A1 . This one has been the recurring headlines throughout the week- Mukhesh Ambani's mansion. It made me think where luxury ended and freak show began. "The house would have facilities like a health club, gym, dance studio, a ballroom, guestrooms, numerous lounges, a 50-seat screening room, an elevated garden, three helipads, and underground parking for 160 vehicles"
This is it, an ode to Mumbai in the exact sense of it's opposite. And a slap in its face. Imagine not wanting to deal with anything a city has to offer- its gardens, public places, even car service stations?

2) The second related article is this: http://www.livemint.com/2010/10/05193910/The-enlightened-Indian-giver.html?d=1 . I find it troubling that most of India's billionaires may have made their fortunes shaking and twisting the arm of government. I so want to believe the India Shining paradigm- if it meant no crony capitalism.

3) http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2010/10/14/55-chef-michael-symon/?iref=allsearch
Another food blog! http://eatocracy.cnn.com/ Chef Michael Symon talking about reasons to eat dinners with family. Sweet and down to earth.

4) Oh, here is another one from livemint. http://www.livemint.com/articles/2010/09/17195921/Those-western-values.html
A great column by Shuba Mudgal, the earthy cool classical singer.

5) http://www.thehindu.com/arts/dance/article830411.ece This week's 'Learn the Lingo' in the arts section of The Hindu. I love the little titbits about dance, music, arts and the bygone era.
